Bellavera Privacy Policy

Bellavera (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information we collect. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information (including, where relevant, health information) in compliance with applicable Alberta legislation (including the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and the Health Information Act (HIA), if applicable).

What is “Personal Information”

Under PIPA (and HIA, where relevant), “personal information” refers to information about an identifiable individual e.g., name, contact details (email address, mailing address, phone number), demographic information, identification numbers, and other information that can identify you. Alberta.ca+1

What Information We Collect

Depending on your interactions with Bellavera (e.g. signup, purchasing, communications, services), we may collect information such as:

Name, address, email address, phone number (mobile and/or landline)
SMS opt-in status and consent credentials when you subscribe to SMS communications
Other necessary information to provide services, process orders, or communicate with you

How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for purposes including, but not limited to:

Providing you with services, products, or support as requested
Communicating with you about your account, transactions, or service updates
Administrative purposes (e.g. billing, record-keeping, customer service)

How We Disclose Personal Information

Bellavera will not share or sell any mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We may disclose your personal information under limited circumstances, when it is necessary and appropriate for the purposes for which the information was collected, including:

To fulfill the services or support you requested (e.g. billing, customer service)
When required by law or valid legal process (e.g. a court order, regulatory requirement)
When necessary to protect the life, health, or safety of an individual or the public, in emergencies (if permitted by applicable law) Alberta.ca+1

If we collect health information under HIA, we will only disclose it:

With your explicit consent;
Or under the limited circumstances allowed by HIA (e.g. to other health custodians for providing health services, or where required by law) Alberta.ca+1

We will never sell your personal information.

Consent, Withdrawal and Your Rights

When we collect personal or health information directly from you, we will:

Inform you of the purpose of collection;
Provide you with a contact person (position/title) to answer questions; and

Security and Retention

We will retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. When no longer needed, we will securely destroy or anonymize your information.

If You Provide Health Information (HIA-governed)

If Bellavera acts as a “custodian” under HIA (i.e. collects, uses, stores or discloses individually identifying health information), we commit to the following:
